3D Sonic Max: This is what you can expect from Qualcomm’s largest fingerprint scanner

Qualcomm Announces In-Display 3D Sonic Max. That’s 17 times more than a traditional 3D Sonic sensor. While the original 3D Sonic ultrasound sensor used sound waves to map the fingers, the optical sensor fingerprint technology captured images of the fingerprints more or less due to intersections.

Unfortunately, the 3D sound sensor does not match the ad you created. The first receivers of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 complained that the slow unlock speed did not deserve Qualcomm’s reputation.

Not only do you place your finger on the sensor surface – it’s like touching a straw case needle. The correct alignment for unlocking the device was more than hitting the gap.

In addition, fingerprint protection is missing when it was crucial. This Fort Knox can very easily be hit with the right tools and a few fragile fingers.

17 times bigger – better

First, the size of the fingerprint sensor is large. Much bigger than in the past. Before the fingerprint sensor it was only 4mm to 9mm, but later updates increased the surface to 8mm in 8mm increments. The new 3D Sonic Max stands out, fits 20mm x 30mm and is 17x larger. It should be kept by some of us with thick fingers.

The larger the fingerprint area, the more the hardware sensor should work. Previously, the $ 3 falsification of silicon sensors is theoretically a thing of the past.

Two-finger authentication

Do you know what a great fingerprint sensor can do for you? Good! Scan two fingers at a time! Well, unless I develop my sixth finger to catch up with our technology, I honestly don’t see myself scanning two fingers. Listening portable devices have two options for unlocking using fingerprint authentication.

The first is a marker on the back and the device on the palm. The second option is the thumb opposite the front. Both options are easy to do with one hand. But scan two fingers at a time? My resistance to change connects me to dinosaurs.

It’s good?

Qualcomm claims that 3D Sonic Max delivers 1 :: 1,000,000 compared to a 3D Sonic sensor accuracy of 1: 50,000. Is that good? I hope so. Qualcomm also says that in addition to the fastest approach, the sensor has many advanced security features. However, since 3D Sonic Max has not yet been released, most of them cannot be determined at this time. So it is.

When can I expect 3D Sonic Max?

Our money is 2020, the year when 3D Sonic Max-compliant devices are seen the most. We are not sure if there will be such big things as Samsung. Samsung has won the battle for  ultrasonic fingerprint defects on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 variants .

It is rumored that   Apple may remove the mantle and include an ultrasound fingerprint scanner by the next issue in 2020 or 2021 . Qualcomm Mobile Director is offering this year. Fingers crossed.
